The Belmont
County WIC program is pleased to announce that it is now offering
Barnesville area WIC participants the option of picking up their WIC coupons
at Dr. Lee-Wood’s office at the Barnesville Family Health Center in downtown
Barnesville. WIC participants must enroll at the St. Clairsville WIC office,
which is located at 45240 National Road. For more information, call

Plans are being made to
have local managed care agencies, such as CareSource, Molina and Unison,
representatives of Children’s Services, and the car seat program available
to assist clients. Also for children there will be crafts and inflatables
available for their enjoyment. Inflatables will be present from 10am until
1pm. Light refreshments will be
served free of charge.
What is WIC?
The Belmont County WIC Program is a sub-grantee of the Ohio Women, Infants &
Children (WIC), which is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women,
Infants and Children. WIC helps income- eligible pregnant and breastfeeding
women, women who recently had a baby, infants and children up to five years of
age who are at health risk due to poor nutrition.
The Belmont County WIC staff provides nutrition education, breastfeeding
education and support; supplemental, highly nutritious foods such as milk, eggs,
cheese, juice, cereal, beans, peanut butter and iron-fortified infant formula;
referrals to prenatal and pediatric health care providers, and other maternal,
child health and social service programs, such as Head Start, Help Me Grow and
Medicaid.
Who is eligible?

Pregnant and breastfeeding women; women who recently had a baby; infants birth
through 12 months of age and children 1 to 5 years old who are:

Present at the clinic and provide proof of identity;
·
Residents of the State of Ohio;
·
Determined by a health professional to be at medical/nutritional risk; and
·
Meet income guidelines, which are 185% of the Federal Poverty level (see chart
below).
In order to be eligible for WIC, the gross income of the economic unit of which
the participant is a member, must be less than or equal to the Ohio WIC program
income guidelines. WIC income guidelines are updated each year.

Where are the WIC clinics located?
There are two WIC clinics in Belmont County. The Bellaire office is located at
3201 Belmont Street, Bellaire on the fourth floor of the Chase Bank Building. The
phone number is (740) 676-2232. The St. Clairsville office is located at 45240
National Road, St. Clairsville behind the Oakview Juvenile Center. The phone
number is (740) 695-0222.
